Biking Britain, End to End, is within the reach of most reasonably fit cyclists, and is an experience you'll never forget - this guide tells you how to do it and provides a photographic record of your route. Land's End to John O' Groats is Britain's classic long-distance cycle tour. But biking "End to End" is not just for the hardened tourer - a populous, compact, and uniquely varied island - this is the perfect place to start exploring by bicycle.
This route, from the south-west tip of England to the north-east tip of Scotland, follows mostly quieter roads and incorporates some of Britain's most beautiful and interesting areas including; the Cornish coast, the Roman towns of Bath and Chester, the Lake District, and Scotland's tussock covered Highlands and brooding locks.

The guide is split into "Preparations" and "The Journey". Part I includes details on getting to Britain with a bike and familiarising oneself with British culture, later sections deal with When to Tour, What to Take, and What to Expect cycle touring in Britain. Suggestions for beginner bicycle tourers are also included, as well as details on getting to Land's End and getting back from John O' Groats.

Part II describes the journey from Land's End to John O' Groats. The tour is split into 21 stages ranging in length from 32 to 61 miles. Each stage is clearly laid out over 4 pages, as shown below. Details on possible intermediate stops are included so the stages can be lengthened or shortened as desired. The option of camping or sleeping in a bed, is available on most stages and the guide has listings for campgrounds, hostels, bed and breakfasts, and hotels.

For each stage, strip maps, elevation profiles, and turn by turn directions are included. The text also has notes on the cycling terrain, although individual hills are typically not listed. If Land's End to John O' Groats is not quite far enough, appendices have additional information on the Isles of Scilly to the south, and the Orkney and Shetland Islands to the north.
